Our goal is simple – to provide the best care possible for people living with cancer, and we work with your family doctor and oncologist.  Our Southern Interior Centre will be led by a team of medical doctors and dedicated operational staff.  We also work closely with allied health professionals, including naturopaths, nutritionists, massage therapists, counselors and acupuncturists.  The InspireHealth team uses an evidence-based approach applying leading-edge immune system research to optimize cancer healing and recovery.  Our approach combines nutrition, exercise and emotional and immune support with standard cancer treatment. 

Medical Staff

Dr. Joseph Schnurr, MD, MA received his medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1983. After 10 years of practicing family medicine in Saskatoon, he came to appreciate the need for an integrative approach to health and healing, one that encompasses the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, with attention to the individual’s story, and utilizing the most appropriate therapies, standard and complementary. He is trained in medical acupuncture, medical anthropology (receiving his Master’s of Anthropology in 2004), and Functional Medicine, a science-based, personalized medicine that deals with primary prevention and underlying causes of chronic disease. He was co-founder and Medical Director of the Centre of Integrative Medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He has given numerous presentations within the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and in the community in the areas of primary prevention and integrative and environmental medicine.

He joined the InspireHealth team in April 2012 and is working from the InspireHealth Southern Interior centre located in Kelowna

We are excited to announce that June 22, 2012 will mark the official opening of InspireHealth Southern Interior – Kelowna!  Our physician, Dr. Joe Schnurr, will be spending the summer training in Vancouver while the rest of the InspireHealth team is setting up the new Centre.  We will be ready to welcome new members in September, 2012, and Dr. Schnurr will be joined by an additional physician, for whom we are still recruiting.
